About the Artist
"The freedom of nature inspires me- particularly in spaces where it grows wild and unconstrained. I find myself continually drawn in by rustic beauty, and the softness and brilliance of light as it touches it.
I want my paintings to captivate viewers with the unbound splendor that dwells in simple, unexpected places where we so often forget to look. And my desire is to evoke the same sense of awe, hope, peace, and gratitude that I feel as I put color to canvas."
-Jessica Hagen
Jessica Hagen is a Canadian artist. In 2005 she earned her degree majoring in Fine Arts, graduating with distinction from Augustana University. She dabbles in many forms of artistic design, but her favoured medium is oil on canvas. Born and raised in Smithers, British Columbia, she discovered her love of art at a very young age. Her and her family recently left their beautiful prairie farm in Alberta to come back home to British Columbia. They now live at a camp along Kootenay Lake, BC, with plans to plant a Discipleship school and retreat centre. She is a founding member of the Wild Goose Collective, which is the creative community born out of the ministries of 'The Harbour at Riondel'.
"I would love for my paintings to help others 'see' nature...
in a different and beautiful way."
